The beauty of age spots

Age spots — also called liver spots and solar lentigines — are flat gray, brown or black spots. They vary in size and usually appear on the face, hands, shoulders & so on – mine are brown!

Going back to my early nursing years I can recall the nursing instructor explaining about these skin markings along with the dry, sticky turgor-less skin of ageing humans; no amount of moisturizer can smoothen it!

In an effort for positivism I have decided that these are my lifetime medals; I try to visualize them the same way that we usually see the freckles on a child’s face.

On the back of my right hand I carry the awards related to my material achievements – not too many! The lefty, being closer to the heart, displays my sentimental triumphs; family, romance, pets, etc.

I just love my darned brown spots!
